Today, the municipal waste management standing committee held the session and discussed the Separated Waste Management Action Plan for 2016-2020.  The pilot project will be implemented in the territories of the Old Batumi and Rustaveli Administrations. The special bins will be placed for collecting separated waste, and then the collected waste is expected to be recycled by the the company which will cooperate with the municipality in the future.
The Commission members also discussed the issue of public engagement in the process of waste management. The students of Shota Rustaveli State University, from Science, Social and Economic faculties expressed their desire to participate in the project and work together with the commission.
As the Chairman of the commission has mentioned, Students Employment Project can be used for their engagement. The commission is planning to have a working meeting with the students in the near future.
