On November 26, the member of Batumi City Council – Natalia Zoidze and The Chairman of Financial and Economic Development Commission- Tengiz Apkhazava attended the exhibition “Women from Ajara- 20-th Century” which was organized by Batumi Gender Media Centre. The idea of the exhibition belonged to the Chairman of Gender Equality Network- Manana Mebuke, who has been working on increasing women’s role in politics for two decades.
The exhibition is the part of the international-informative campaign – “16 active days against gender violence”, which is held from November 25 to December 10, each year. Batumi Gender Media Centre joined the international campaign and remembered the works of successful women of the region from 20-th century, who were actively involved in socio-political and cultural life of Ajara.
It is planned to publish a book. The exhibition will be held into different places.
The event was held with the support of Ajara Archive Office, Batumi Outdoor Lightening and Café “Gardens”. The exhibition was attended by the Mayor of Batumi and by the representatives of Ajara AR Government, Supreme council of Ajara and public society.
